Most of the work we do in Epping is ducted - either new installs or replacing older systems.

We get a lot of calls from Epping homeowners with ducted systems that are 15 to 20 years old and starting to cause trouble. At that age, a replacement usually makes more sense than another repair. We will tell you honestly which way to go. Epping is on the North West run, so we are in the suburb regularly.

30+ Years

Epping has a good mix of 1950s and 1960s brick homes, some 1970s and 1980s builds, and newer units and townhouses near the station. Most of the older homes have roof spaces that suit ducted work well. The block sizes are generous enough that outdoor unit placement is usually straightforward.

Ducted and Split Systems for Epping Homes

Epping has a mix of housing that shapes what system works best. The older brick homes on the western side - most of them built in the 1950s and 1960s - have roof spaces that suit ducted work well. The newer units and townhouses closer to Epping station are split system territory. We work across both regularly.

For a typical 4-bedroom Epping home you are looking at a 10-12kW ducted system. Multi-zone setups are common because the homes have multiple living areas spread across two levels. Getting the zone layout right matters - done properly, you only condition the rooms you are using. Use our sizing calculator to get a rough guide before we visit.

If ducted is right for your place, our ducted installation cost calculator gives a realistic ballpark. For split systems, get an online quote in a few minutes. Most single-room splits in Epping run between 2.5kW in a bedroom and 7kW in an open-plan living area.

A lot of the systems we replace in Epping are original to the house - 20-plus years old and no longer worth repairing. Modern inverter units use roughly half the electricity of what they replace, which adds up over a Sydney summer.

We cover Epping and the surrounding area - Carlingford, North Ryde, Beecroft, and Ryde are all on our regular run. If you are comparing quotes, you will find we are upfront about what is involved. No surprises on installation day.

For faults on existing systems, our repairs team covers Epping and surrounds. Usually available within a day or two for urgent issues.

Ducted Air Conditioning in Epping

Epping's established brick homes are well suited to ducted air conditioning. The roof spaces are typically deep enough to run ductwork without major modifications, and the block sizes mean the outdoor unit has somewhere sensible to go. Mick's team covers Epping and the North West as part of the regular install schedule. For a new ducted system or a replacement, give us a call or book a quote online.

Why Epping Calls Jay's

Mick Daly runs our North West installs and has been covering Epping and the surrounding suburbs for years. He has been with Jay's since 2009 and has done every type of job this area throws at him - ducted upgrades in the older brick homes, multi-head splits in the units near Epping station, and replacement jobs where the original ducted system is well past its use by date. You will get a fixed price before we start. Not an estimate that shifts when we get up in the roof space.

We are fully licensed and insured. NSW Contractor Licence 273312C, ARCtick AU13058. Refrigerant handling is done correctly - we do not vent gas, we do not cut corners on flare fittings, and if there is anything unexpected about the job we will tell you before doing anything extra.

All quotes are free. We come to the property, check the roof space on ducted jobs, confirm what is actually involved, and give you a written fixed price. Most Epping quotes are back to you the same day or next morning. There is no call-out fee and no obligation to proceed.

Hours are Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm. Saturdays are available by arrangement for jobs already on the schedule. We do not run a 24-hour emergency service. If you have an urgent fault, call us first thing in the morning and we will work out the fastest way to help.

Read more about how we work on our working with us page. If you are comparing a few quotes, our why choose Jay's page covers the things most homeowners end up caring about - licensing, response times, fixed pricing, and what happens if something needs sorting after the job.

We have been in business since 1991. We are not the cheapest option in every situation, but we show up when we say, do the job right, and are still reachable if anything comes up afterwards. For most Epping homeowners, that track record is worth more than the cheapest number in the quotes pile.

Common questions from Epping homeowners

Air conditioning FAQs - Epping

Most ducted installs in Epping run between $8,000 and $14,000 depending on house size, number of zones, and whether the existing ductwork can be reused. Homes with usable duct runs cost less because you are replacing the mechanical components only. We give a fixed price after the site visit.

At 15 years it depends on the fault. A refrigerant recharge or a fan motor is usually worth doing. A compressor failure on a 15-year-old system generally is not – the system is near end of life and the repair cost often exceeds the value. We will tell you straight when we look at it.

Yes. Most 1960s brick homes in Epping have enough roof space for a standard ducted install. We check the roof space when we quote and give you a straight answer on what is practical before committing to anything.

Air Conditioning Advice for Epping Homeowners

Most of the calls we get from Epping are about ducted systems that are 15 to 20 years old and either starting to fail or no longer doing the job. At that age, a replacement is often the smarter move than another round of repairs. We will give you an honest read when we visit. For newer homes or units where ducted is not practical, a multi-head split system covers multiple rooms off a single outdoor unit and is usually the most cost-effective option.
