Aircon Down at Work?
We'll Get You Back Up and Running.
Commercial aircon down? Here's the short version. A service call to diagnose the fault is $250 plus GST, we quote the fix before we touch anything, and most common faults are sorted the same visit. Jay's Air has been doing commercial air conditioning repairs Sydney wide since 1991. Shopfronts, offices, restaurants and server rooms.
The usual suspects are the same ones we see every week. Filters and coils choked from long run hours. Refrigerant leaks. Failed capacitors and contactors. Cassettes dripping on desks because nobody's cleared the drain in years.
Downtime costs you money. Staff wilt, customers walk, stock and servers cook. So we don't muck around. You get our own techs, not subbies, fixed pricing quoted before the work starts, and lifetime workmanship warranty on repair parts. 4.8 stars from 280+ reviews.
We service every brand and every system type. Splits, cassettes, ducted, rooftop package units and VRV. Check our pricing guide or give us a bell on (02) 9820 4500.

Why Sydney Commercial Systems Break
Commercial gear works harder than anything in a house. A shopfront split runs 12 hours a day, six or seven days a week. Office cassettes run all year. Server room units never switch off at all.
Most of it is preventable. A regular service costs a lot less than a dead Saturday's trade.

The Faults We Fix
Week In, Week Out
Here's what commercial aircon repairs across Sydney actually look like for us, and what each fault means for your business.
Usually low gas from a leak, packed filters or a filthy condenser working too hard. We put gauges on, find the real cause and quote the fix before we start. More on our aircon not cooling page.
VRV systems shut themselves down to protect the compressor when something’s off. Communication faults, sensor faults and refrigerant trips are the common ones. Note the code before you reset it. Our error codes page explains the families.
A cassette dripping on desks or stock is nearly always a blocked condensate drain or a dead drain pump. A drain clear is $120 to $150. Sort it early, before the ceiling tiles stain. More on our leaking water page.
Commercial systems vibrate more and run longer, so flare joints and coils leak sooner. Topping up without fixing the leak just buys you weeks. We pressure test, repair the leak, then regas. R32 is $185 a kilo, R410a $225.
Contactors, capacitors and supply issues knock out bigger commercial units. Minor electrical fixes start around $150 fitted. If a breaker keeps tripping, stop resetting it and give us a call.
Server room units run around the clock, so they fail sooner and the cost of failure is uglier. If your gear is cooking, shed load where you can and call. Worth asking us about a maintenance plan for these rooms.
Kitchens are brutal on aircon. Grease loads up condensers and filters, and the system dies mid-service on the hottest day. A chemical coil clean is $200 to $300 and brings most struggling units back.

How We Diagnose Commercial Faults

Get the Story
What it's doing, when it started, what's changed. Run hours and history matter on commercial gear.
00
Electrical Checks
Capacitors, contactors and supply, including three phase where fitted.
00
Refrigerant Pressures
Gauges on. Pressures tell us straight away if it's a gas problem, whatever the refrigerant.
00
Airflow and Coils
Filters, coils, fans and returns. Choked airflow mimics half the faults on this page.

Quote Before We Fix
You get the fault and the price before we start. You decide. No surprises on the invoice.

Commercial Repair
Cost Guide
Honest ballparks, not nasty surprises. Every job is quoted before we start. The service call covers a tech on site, a proper diagnosis and a straight answer. Bigger parts get quoted once we know exactly what's needed. Full details on our pricing page.

Why Quick Fixes Cost You More
We get asked to just regas it, just reset it, just get us through the weekend. We get why. But on commercial gear a band-aid usually means the same breakdown again in a few weeks, at a worse time, with a bigger bill.
A regas without fixing the leak leaks out again. A breaker reset on a fault trips again, and every trip stresses the compressor, which is the one part you really don't want to buy. An error code cleared without reading it first throws away the exact clue that saves diagnosis time.
So we fix causes, not symptoms. It's why our repairs come with 12 month warranty on parts, plus our lifetime workmanship guarantee. And if the system is limping along quietly chewing power, have a look at our high power bills page. A struggling system costs you money every day it runs.
Repair or Upgrade?
Under about 10 years old with a failed capacitor, fan motor or a gas leak? Repair it, no question. Past 12 to 15 years, running old R22, with a dead compressor or board? Replacement is usually the smarter spend, and newer inverter gear costs a lot less to run over a long trading week.
We'll give you the honest call either way, with numbers for both. If you're weighing it up, our sizing guide and pricing guide show what a new system actually involves.

Our On-Site Repair Process
Step by Step

Step 1
We confirm the fault with proper testing, not guesswork, and walk you through what we found.
Step 2
You get a fixed quote before any repair work starts. You say go, or you don't.
Step 3
We do the repair, test the system under load and make sure it holds temperature.
Step 4
You get the invoice, the compliance paperwork and 12 month warranty on the parts, plus our lifetime workmanship guarantee we fitted.

Work That Keeps Your Business Compliant
Refrigerant work is regulated for a reason. We're ARCtick certified (AU13058) for refrigerant handling, NSW licensed (273312C), and fully insured for commercial sites. You get proper compliance paperwork with every job, which matters when centre management or your landlord comes asking.
And because we're a family business with our own techs, the bloke who quoted your job is accountable for it. No subbies, no finger pointing.
Get Your Business Back to Cool
Aircon down is money walking out the door, so don't sit on it. Give us a bell on (02) 9820 4500, tell us what's happening and we'll tell you straight what we can do and when. Monday to Friday 7am to 5pm, Saturdays and after-hours work by arrangement, booked around your trading hours.
If it's a one-off fault, we'll fix it properly. If your gear is getting on, ask us about a commercial air conditioning service plan so the next breakdown doesn't pick the date for you. See our Sydney repairs hub for everything we fix.

A service call to diagnose the fault is $250 plus GST, then we quote the fix before we start. Minor electrical repairs run $150 to $500 fitted, refrigerant work $300 to $900 typically. Major parts are quoted after diagnosis.
Yes. VRV, cassettes, splits, ducted and rooftop package units, every major brand. Genuine parts where they are needed, with 12 month warranty on parts, plus our lifetime workmanship guarantee.
Often, yes. We work Monday to Friday 7am to 5pm with Saturdays and after-hours jobs by arrangement. Tell us your trading hours and we will work around them where we can.
Long run hours and no maintenance, nearly every time. Commercial units run two to three times the hours of a home system. A regular service catches small faults before they become a dead Saturday.
Under 10 years old, repair it. Past 12 to 15 years on old R22 gas with a major fault, replacement usually wins on running costs alone. We will quote both ways and give you the honest call.
