Why Wash Your Filter?
Your air conditioner’s return air filter isn’t just a dust catcher; it’s the first line of defence for your indoor unit and your family’s health.
Here’s exactly what happens when you skip cleaning or washing the filter:
• Dust & dirt build-up on the evaporator coil → turns into thick, black sludge (especially in humid Sydney homes)
• Sludge breeds mold, bacteria & mildew in the dark, moist environment — this gets blown straight into the air you breathe, causing musty AC smells and potential respiratory issues
• Blocked condensate drain → water backs up, overflows, and leaks through your ceiling (we’ve seen $5,000+ water damage bills from this alone!)
• Reduced cooling capacity & higher electricity bills — a dirty filter can increase running costs by 15–20 %
The fix? Just 5 to 10 minutes every 1–2 months (or monthly in dusty areas or if you have pets) to wash or replace the filter.
Do this one simple task and you’ll enjoy:
• Cleaner, healthier indoor air
• No more strange AC smells
• No surprise leaks or ceiling floods
• Lower power bills
• Longer lifespan for your entire system
Pro tip: Most split-system and ducted filters are washable — just rinse under lukewarm water with mild detergent and let air-dry completely before reinstalling.

Is Your Aircon Leaking?
If your split system or ducted air conditioner is leaking water inside the house, dripping from the indoor unit, or leaving water stains on your ceiling/wall — don’t try DIY fixes beyond checking the filter. In almost every case, this is caused by one (or more) of these issues deep inside the unit:
• Blocked or slimy condensate drain line (most common)
• Severely clogged or mould-covered evaporator coil
• Bacterial/algae growth inside the drain pan or pipework
• Incorrect installation or degraded insulation (less common)
Trying to fix these yourself usually makes the problem worse and can void your warranty.
Our professional AC leak repair service can include:
• High-pressure cleaning of the evaporator coil to remove years of black sludge and mould
• Flushing and unblocking the entire drainage system
• Application of hospital-grade anti-bacterial & anti-algae treatment (stops regrowth for 12+ months)
• Testing for correct water flow and cooling performance
Most leaking air conditioners are fixed the same day. Average cost in 2025: $299–$550 inc GST (depending on system size and how bad the blockage is).

No Power? Unit Won’t Turn On?
If your air conditioner has no power or won’t turn on at all, start with the simplest (and most common) fix:
1. Go to your electrical switchboard
2. Find the circuit breaker labelled “Air Con” or “AC”
3. Even if it looks ON, switch it fully OFF, wait 5 mins, then switch back ON (this resets it)
4. Try your AC again
If the breaker is tripped (in the middle or OFF position) and trips again immediately after resetting → STOP. Repeated tripping can mean a serious electrical fault, compressor issue, or water in the system.
Call a licensed technician immediately – don’t risk fire or electrocution! We fix “AC no power” and tripped breaker faults for you once diagnosed.

Not Blowing Cold Air?
If your air conditioner is running but not cooling (blowing warm or room-temperature air), try this 5-minute reset first — it fixes many minor faults:
1. Turn the AC off at the remote/controller
2. Go to your switchboard and switch the AC breaker fully OFF
3. Wait 3–5 minutes (this clears error codes and protects the compressor)
4. Switch the breaker back ON
5. Set remote to COOL mode, 18–22 °C, fan on HIGH or Heat in Winter
6. Wait another 5 minutes — most systems have a built-in compressor delay
Back blowing cold? Awesome! Still not cooling (or stops again after 5–10 mins)? This usually means low refrigerant (gas leak), compressor failure, or blocked coil.
Don’t keep forcing it — you’ll cause expensive damage. Call us now for service “AC not cooling” diagnosis and regas/repair.

Aircon Smells Bad?
A smelly air conditioner is almost always caused by something trapped or built-up on the coil/ducts. Common culprits:
• Musty/mouldy smell → mould & bacteria on a dirty evaporator coil or drain
• Cigarette or chemical smell → nicotine/tar baked onto the coil (common in ex-smoker homes)
• Rotten or dead animal smell → unfortunately a cat, possum or rat that crawled into the return air/duct and died
Quick check: run the fan only (no cooling) for 10 mins — if the bad smell is still strong, it’s inside the system.
DIY can’t fix these safely. We’ll find and eliminate the source with a full coil clean, duct inspection and anti-bacterial treatment of unit.

Outdoor Unit Not Running?
If your air conditioner outdoor unit is not running (completely silent, fan not spinning), it’s almost always a built-in safety trip protecting the compressor from damage or fire.
Try this 60-second reset first:
1. Turn the remote OFF
2. Switch the AC breaker at the switchboard OFF for 3–5 minutes
3. Switch back ON and test
Outdoor fan starts again? Fixed! Still dead silent after reset? Could be capacitor failure, compressor fault, or electrical issue.
Don’t ignore it — call us now for a diagnosis and repair.

What is a Back-to-Back Installation?
This is where an indoor unit for a hi wall split system shares the same wall as the outdoor unit as shown below, and generally is under 3m of pipe length, with unit at ground level (brackets can cost extra), single story structure.
