LG Showing a CH Code or Not Cooling?
We'll Fix It Properly.
LG split flashing a CH code or blowing warm? Short version: a service call to find the fault is $250 plus GST, we quote the fix before we start, and most common LG faults are sorted same visit. We've repaired LG units across Sydney since 1991. 4.8 stars from 280+ reviews.
LG splits are everywhere in Sydney - apartments especially - and the newer inverter units are decent gear. The faults we see are mostly sensors, capacitors and boards rather than compressors, which keeps repair costs sensible. The CH fault codes actually make diagnosis quicker when you tell us the number up front.

What We See in
Sydney LG Systems
Extreme Heat
Sydney summers push LG condensers hard. Capacitors and fan motors cop the worst of it on 40 degree runs.
Poor Airflow
Packed filters and dirty coils choke the indoor unit. Half the weak-cooling LG units we see just need a proper clean.
Coastal Corrosion
Salt air eats outdoor coils and cabinets near the water. Corroded coils end up leaking gas.
Heavy Usage
LG units that run all day, every day wear parts early. Boards and sensors usually go first.

Common LG Faults We Fix
CH codes. LG uses CH-prefix fault codes on the display. The common families: low single digits are usually sensor faults, CH05 points to communication problems between indoor and outdoor, CH10 to the indoor fan, and the higher numbers relate to the outdoor unit - pressure, temperature and fan faults. Whatever the number, write it down before you restart the unit.
Sensor faults. The most common LG repair we do. A failed thermistor makes the unit cycle weirdly or refuse to hold temperature. Around $250 to $300 fitted.
Capacitors. Fan running, no cold air, outdoor unit humming - the usual story. $150 to $180 fitted.
Low gas. Newer LGs run R32, older R410A. Weak cooling or an iced coil means a leak - we find it, fix it, regas. Top-ups run $200 to $350.
Boards. LG boards fault after surges and storms more than most. $400 to $700 depending on the model, diagnosis confirmed before we order anything.
CH02 - pipe temperature sensor. A failed thermistor feeding the board bad numbers. Around $250 to $300 fitted.
CH05 - communication error. Indoor and outdoor units not talking. Restart at the isolator first. If it returns, the interconnect wiring gets tested before anyone mentions a board. $180 to $400.
CH10 - indoor fan motor. Fan locked or not reaching speed - bearing wear on older units. $300 to $500 fitted.
CH61 - condenser overheating. The outdoor coil can't shed heat - usually a filthy coil or blocked airflow around the unit. A proper clean runs $200 to $300, and it often saves a bigger repair.
LG's code list runs longer than this and varies by model. Read us the CH number on (02) 9820 4500 and we'll tell you the likely fault and ballpark cost before we book anything.
Quick LG Checks First
Note the CH code first, then restart at the isolator - off five minutes, back on. A one-off code that doesn't return was probably a power flicker. Wash the filters, check the mode is Cool and the temp is set below the room. If the code comes back, it's real - call us with the number and we can usually tell you the likely fault and ballpark cost on the phone.

How We Diagnose LG Faults
We don't rely on guesswork, and we don't swap parts until something works. We test the system properly and look at the fault as a whole - operating pressures, temperatures, electrical readings and airflow - then fix the actual cause. Here's how a LG diagnosis runs:
00
Airflow
Filters, coils and fans first. Choked airflow mimics low gas and trips protection codes.
00
Electrical
Boards, capacitors and sensors tested properly, not guessed at. LG codes point us to the right circuit.
00
Refrigerant
Gauges on, pressures read. If it's low it's leaked, so we find the leak before any regas.

How Long Repairs Take

Diagnosis
One visit. Gauges, electrical checks and a straight answer with a fixed quote.
Simple Fixes
Capacitors, sensors, drain clears and regas jobs are usually done the same visit.
Moderate Repairs
Fan motors and boards depend on parts. Common LG parts we can usually get within the week.
Summer Peak Season
We won't promise what we can't deliver in a heatwave, but genuine no-cooling jobs get priority. Call early in the day.

LG Repair
Cost Guide
Every job is quoted before we start. The $250 plus GST service call covers a proper diagnosis and a straight answer. Full pricing on our pricing page.

Why We Don't Cut Corners
There's a reason LG owners call us back. We don't regas a leaking system and drive off. We don't swap parts on a hunch and bill you for the experiment. And we don't talk you into a new system when a $300 repair will do.
Every LG repair starts with a proper diagnosis. Pressures, electricals, airflow, the lot. You get the actual fault and a fixed quote before we touch a spanner. If the maths says repair, we repair it with genuine parts and 12 month warranty on those parts, plus our lifetime workmanship guarantee. If the maths says replace, we'll show you why and quote both ways.
That's how a family business holds a 4.8 star rating across 280+ reviews after 35 years. No shortcuts, no surprises, no subbies.
Repair or Replace Your LG?
Honest answer: it depends on age more than brand. Under 8 to 10 years with a sensor, capacitor or gas fault, repair it - those are all fair-money fixes. Past 12 years, or a compressor failure, the maths usually favours a new unit - a 2.5kW split installed starts around $1,800. We'll give you both numbers and you decide.

What Happens on a Repair Visit
We start with proper diagnosis so we can identify the fault before recommending any repair. That includes checking operation, airflow, drainage, electrical readings, and the way the LG system behaves under load.
Once the issue is confirmed, we explain the problem clearly, tell you what needs to change, and give you clear pricing before work begins. If the repair can be completed on the spot, we do it. If parts are required, we organise the next step quickly and keep it straightforward.
00
System Diagnosis
Gauges, electrical tests and airflow checks on the whole system, not just the bit that's complaining.
00
Plain English Explanation
We tell you what we found in plain English, not jargon.
00
Root Cause Found
We chase the cause, not the symptom, so the same fault doesn't come back next month.

And if the old girl's past saving, we install Panasonic, LG and Actron systems with full sizing advice. Start with our sizing calculator or see everything we repair.

CH codes are LG’s fault codes. Low numbers are usually sensors, CH05 and CH10 are communication faults, higher numbers point at the outdoor unit. Note the number, restart once, and if it returns call us with the code.
Yes. LG splits, multi-heads and the ducted range, current and older models. Parts availability for LG in Australia is reasonable – common sensors and capacitors are quick.
Mould in the indoor coil or drain, very common in apartment units that run a lot. A chemical coil clean at $200 to $300 sorts it. Don’t just mask it with spray – the mould keeps growing.
Around 10 to 15 years serviced. The inverter-era units are better than the old fixed-speed ones. Annual servicing and clean filters make the difference between the bottom and top of that range.
Under 10 years old, almost always – sensors, capacitors and regas jobs are all cheap relative to replacement. Older than that, we quote repair and replacement side by side and let the numbers decide.
