Common Fujitsu Faults We Fix
Flash codes. Older Fujitsus without a display talk through LED flash patterns - the green operation light and the orange light flash in a sequence that maps to a fault code. Code 05 is the indoor fan motor, 06 the indoor board, 07 an indoor sensor, 11 the outdoor fan motor, 22 a communication error. Newer models show the code on the unit or remote.
The flashing green light. A rapidly flashing operation light with no code usually means the unit has self-protected after a power flicker or a pressure event. Restart at the isolator. If it keeps coming back, there's a real fault underneath it.
Indoor fan motors. The most common mechanical fault on older ASTG splits - bearing wear, squealing, then seizure. $300 to $500 fitted with the correctly matched motor, not a generic one.
Low gas. Current Fujitsus run R32, older ones R410A. Leaks show up as weak cooling or an iced coil. We find and fix the leak, then regas - a top-up runs $200 to $350.
Boards. Fujitsu boards are reliable but cop it from power surges and water ingress from blocked drains. $400 to $700, and we confirm the diagnosis first - corroded terminals can mimic a dead board.
Fujitsu Fault Codes and What They Mean
Code 05 - indoor fan motor. Bearing wear or a seized motor. Replacement runs $300 to $500 fitted with the correctly matched part.
Code 06 - indoor board fault. Confirmed by testing, not guessed - corroded terminals mimic a dead board. Boards run $400 to $700.
Code 07 - indoor temperature sensor. Sensor replacement, around $250 to $300.
Code 11 - outdoor fan motor. Same as the indoor version but it cops the weather. $300 to $500 fitted.
Code 13 - outdoor temperature sensor. Around $250 to $300 fitted.
Code 15 - refrigerant pressure fault. High or low pressure protection - often low gas from a leak. Leak repair plus regas, top-ups $200 to $350.
Code 22 - communication error. Indoor and outdoor not talking. Restart first; if it returns the wiring needs testing. $180 to $400 depending on the fault.
On older units with no display, the code comes as a flash pattern on the indoor lights - count the flashes and the pauses and tell us the pattern on (02) 9820 4500.
Quick Fujitsu Checks First
Turn it off at the isolator by the outdoor unit, wait five minutes, restart - that clears most one-off protection lockouts. Wash the filters. Check the mode is Cool, not Fan or Dry. If the lights keep flashing after a restart, count the flashes and the pattern - that's the fault code. Tell us the count when you call and we can usually tell you what's wrong and roughly what it costs before we even get in the van.
