Common Samsung Faults We Fix
E codes and blinking lights. Samsung shows E-prefix codes on units with a display, and blink patterns on units without. The low E1xx family is generally indoor sensors and communication, the E4xx family points at the outdoor unit. Whatever you see, note it before restarting - the code is half the diagnosis.
Sensor faults. Failed thermistors make a Samsung cycle strangely or ice up. Around $250 to $300 fitted.
Boards. Samsung inverter boards don't love Sydney storm season - surges take them out more than wear does. $400 to $700 depending on the model, and we confirm the board is actually the fault before ordering one.
Capacitors. The humming-but-not-starting outdoor unit. $150 to $180 fitted, often the same visit.
Low gas. Weak cooling or an iced coil means a leak. We find it, fix it, regas - top-ups run $200 to $350. Newer Samsungs run R32, older ones R410A.
Samsung Error Codes and What They Mean
E101 - communication error. Indoor unit has lost contact with the outdoor. Restart at the isolator for five minutes. If it returns, the wiring needs testing - corroded joints are the usual finding. $180 to $400.
E121 and E122 - indoor sensor faults. Room or coil thermistors feeding the board bad readings. Around $250 to $300 fitted.
E154 - indoor fan fault. The fan isn't reaching speed or has locked. $300 to $500 fitted.
E458 - outdoor fan fault. Same deal on the outdoor side, where the weather does the wearing. $300 to $500.
E4xx family - outdoor and compressor protection. The higher 400-series codes cover outdoor temperature, pressure and inverter protection. Often triggered by low gas or a choked condenser rather than a dying compressor - we test before quoting.
Samsung's full code list varies by series, and units without a display blink the lights in a pattern instead. Read us the code or count the blinks, (02) 9820 4500, and we'll give you the likely fault on the phone.
Quick Samsung Checks First
Note the error code or count the blinks first. Then restart at the isolator - off five minutes, back on. One-off codes after a blackout or storm are common and often clear. Wash the filters, check the mode is Cool. WindFree models: check it's not just sitting in WindFree mode doing its gentle thing when you want full cold. If the code returns, call us with the number.

The blink pattern is a fault code. Count it, restart once at the isolator, and if it comes back call us with the pattern or the E code. Common causes are sensors, a blocked drain tripping the float switch, or an outdoor fault.
