What a good photo looks like

Here are examples of the four shots we need. Step back 2–3 metres, use natural daylight where possible, and keep the frame steady. You don’t need to be a photographer — just give us context.

Example: indoor wall where head unit will mount

1. Indoor Wall

Air conditioning units installed outdoors, suitable for residential use in Sydney.
Example: outdoor location for compressor

2. Outdoor unit location

Wide shot of the ground or wall where the compressor will sit. Show clearance to fences, eaves and any garden beds.
Example: switchboard with labelled breakers

3. Switchboard

Open the door. Get close enough to read breaker labels. Helps us confirm available capacity for the new circuit.

Split System Online Quote FAQs

FAQS

Getting an online split system quote with Jay’s Air Conditioning takes about 5 minutes. Tell us about the room, the type of property, and where you want the indoor and outdoor units installed, then upload a few clear photos. From that information we can give you a realistic quote for split system supply and installation across Sydney without needing a site visit in many standard cases.

Split system installation costs in Sydney depend on the kW size, brand, pipe run length, access, wall type and electrical requirements. A simple back-to-back installation is usually the most affordable, while apartments, upper-storey installs, long pipe runs, wall brackets, condensate pumps or switchboard upgrades can increase the total price. Our online split quote is designed to give you a realistic price based on your exact setup.

A back-to-back installation is the simplest split system setup. It means the indoor unit is mounted on an external wall and the outdoor unit is placed directly outside behind it, which keeps the pipework and electrical run short. Because it is quicker and uses fewer materials, it is usually the lowest-cost type of split system installation.

All three tiers use the same quality installation by our team — only the equipment differs. Actron Aires (Good) is a reliable Australian-made system built for local conditions. Panasonic NX Adaptive (Better) is our go-to and most-chosen system — quieter, more efficient, longer-lasting, and an unbeatable real-world performer for Sydney homes. Panasonic NX High Static (Best) steps up to higher static pressure and nanoe™ X air purification for larger or double-storey homes.

A standard split system installation generally includes supply of the indoor and outdoor unit, mounting the indoor head unit, positioning the outdoor unit, standard refrigeration pipework, drain connection, interconnecting cable, standard electrical connection where suitable, commissioning, testing and system handover. GST is included unless otherwise stated.

Standard split system quotes do not usually include switchboard upgrades, new dedicated circuits where required, long pipe runs, decorative duct covers, wall brackets, concrete slabs, condensate pumps, core drilling through concrete, crane or EWP hire, asbestos removal, strata approvals or repairs to existing faulty wiring. If any of these are needed, we will explain them before the job goes ahead.

The right split system size depends on the room size, ceiling height, insulation, window size, sun exposure and how the room is used. Small bedrooms often suit a 2.5 kW unit, while larger living areas may need 5 kW to 7 kW or more. If you are unsure, use our air conditioner sizing calculator before requesting a quote and we can also recommend the best kW size from your photos and room details.

Not always. Many split system quotes can be done online using photos and basic job details. If your install is straightforward, we can often quote without attending first. If the property has difficult access, apartment restrictions, long pipe runs, switchboard concerns or unusual wall locations, we may recommend a site visit before confirming the final fixed price.

Yes, we install split systems in apartments, townhouses and strata-managed properties across Sydney. In many cases strata approval is needed for the outdoor unit location, wall penetrations, drainage and external appearance. We can help identify likely issues early, but owners are responsible for obtaining any required strata approval before installation.

Most standard split system installations are completed in one day, and a simple back-to-back install may only take a few hours. Larger systems, upper-storey properties, apartments, long pipe runs or jobs needing extra electrical work can take longer. We will confirm the expected timeframe before booking the installation.

In some cases, yes. If you already have a split system unit, send us the brand, model number and installation details and we can let you know if we are able to install it. Buying through us often makes the process easier because we can recommend the correct unit size, manage warranty support and quote the full job as one package.

Yes, finance options may be available on eligible split system installations. Ask us when you request your quote and we can explain the current options, approval process and minimum job value if applicable.
