Ducted replacements on older brick homes, splits for smaller homes, and repairs on aging systems across the area.

Rooty Hill is a solid Western Sydney suburb with a mix of 1970s-80s brick homes and some older housing stock. We've been covering the area since 1991 - ducted replacements in brick homes with aging systems, split installs where ducted isn't practical, and plenty of repair calls on older Carrier, Mitsubishi and Actron units that have been running since the 1990s.

30+ Years

Most Rooty Hill homes are 1970s-80s brick veneer on standard blocks. Many have original ducted systems from the 1990s that are now 25-30 years old and starting to fail. Homes closer to the hills have more varied roof pitches. There are also housing commission pockets and newer townhouse sections near the station where splits make more sense than ducted.
About Us

Air Conditioning in Rooty Hill

After air conditioning in Rooty Hill? Jay's Air has been doing it since 1991. For a typical 3-bed brick home here, a 5kW split runs around $2,500-$3,000. Ducted for a brick home with a clear roof cavity starts from about $9,000 for a 10-12kW system. We do a lot of air conditioning repairs Rooty Hill residents call us for - older Carrier and Mitsubishi systems from the late 1990s are common out here and most are repairable. 4.8 stars from 280+ reviews.

How much does ducted air conditioning cost in Rooty Hill? For a standard 3-4 bedroom brick home, a 12kW Panasonic or Daikin system with 4 zones runs $9,000-$11,000 installed. Homes that need new ductwork cost more. Many Rooty Hill homes have existing ductwork that can be reused if it's still in decent shape - Mick checks that before quoting.

What Works for a Rooty Hill Home - Splits or Ducted?

Most 1970s-80s brick veneer homes in Rooty Hill have enough roof cavity for a good ducted system. If the original ducted system has finally given up the ghost - and a lot of the 1990s systems out here are at that point - replacement is usually straightforward. For homes without existing ducted, we check the roof space first.

Homes closer to the station, townhouses, and older fibro sections suit splits better. For split system installation Rooty Hill homes typically need a 5kW unit in the living area plus a smaller unit for the main bedroom - covering the whole home for $3,000-$4,500 depending on what you need.

Air Conditioning Repairs in Rooty Hill

We handle air conditioning repairs Rooty Hill homeowners call us for regularly - fan motor failures, capacitor faults, refrigerant leaks, blocked drains, zone motor issues and PCB failures. A lot of the systems out here are 1990s-early 2000s Carrier, Mitsubishi, Actron and Daikin units that are still repairable if the refrigerant is R410A. If you've got an R22 system, we'll assess it honestly - in most cases replacement makes more economic sense than tracking down R22 gas.

Air Conditioning Advice for Rooty Hill Homeowners

If your home is one of the 1970s-80s brick veneer homes that make up a lot of Rooty Hill, there's a good chance it either has an aging ducted system or nothing at all. For the aging ducted systems - especially 1990s Carrier, Actron or Temperzone units - the honest question is whether repair costs are getting out of hand.

The sizing calculator on our site will tell you the kW rating your home needs. A 3-bed home with an open plan living area typically needs 10-12kW for ducted, or a well-placed 5-7kW split. Get the size wrong and you pay more in electricity for a system that never quite does the job.
