30+ Years

Housing in St Marys is a real mix. The older streets near the town centre have 1960s-80s fibro and weatherboard homes. Brick veneer homes from the 1970s-90s cover the surrounding hills and most can take ducted. The newer sections near the train station and around Colyton include 1990s-2000s project homes built for ducted from the start.
About Us

Air Conditioning in St Marys

After air conditioning in St Marys? Jay's Air has been doing it since 1991. For a typical 3-bed brick home here, you're looking at around $2,500-$3,000 for a quality 5kW split or $9,000-$11,000 for ducted. Most fibro homes can't take ducted - the roof pitch is too low. For air conditioning repairs St Marys is one of our regular runs, and we see a lot of aging Carrier, Actron and Mitsubishi systems out here. 4.8 stars from 280+ reviews.

How much does ducted air conditioning cost in St Marys? For a 3-4 bedroom brick home with a clear roof cavity, a 12kW Panasonic system with 4 zones runs $9,500-$11,000 installed. One-level homes with short duct runs come in cheaper. Two-storey homes add to that.

Fibro vs Brick - What Your St Marys Home Needs

Fibro and weatherboard homes out here usually can't take ducted. The roof pitch is too low for insulated flexible ductwork to run properly. The answer is splits. For split system installation St Marys homes typically need a 2.5kW or 5kW unit per living area, costing $2,500-$4,200 total.

Brick homes are different. Most 1970s-90s brick veneer homes in St Marys and Colyton have enough roof cavity for ducted. We check the roof space first - insulation depth, beam clearance, and how far the duct runs need to go. If it's viable, ducted gives you whole-home cooling with zone control on a timer.

St Marys is in the Penrith LGA, just east of the Blue Mountains foothills. We also cover Penrith, Blacktown and Doonside. Check our sizing calculator or the pricing guide.

Air Conditioning Repairs in St Marys

We handle air conditioning repairs St Marys homeowners call us for every week - fan motor failures, refrigerant leaks, capacitor faults, PCB issues, blocked drains and zone motor failures. Most older Carrier, Actron, Daikin and Mitsubishi systems can be repaired cost-effectively if the refrigerant is still R410A. If it's an R22 system, we'll give you an honest repair-vs-replace assessment on the day.

FAQs

Air Conditioning St Marys - Common Questions

FAQs

For a typical 3-bed brick home, a 12kW ducted system with 4 zones runs $9,000-$11,000 installed. A quality 5kW split for the main living area costs $2,500-$3,000. Most fibro homes go with splits – ducted is usually not practical without a proper roof cavity.

Most fibro homes have a low-pitch roof with limited cavity space, so ducted is usually not practical. Splits are the better option – a well-placed 5kW unit covers the living area, and a second unit handles the main bedroom.

If it’s over 12 years old and needing a second repair in the same year, replacement usually makes more financial sense. R22 systems (pre-2010 in most cases) can’t be recharged legally – replacement is the only real option. We’ll tell you straight on the day.

Air Conditioning Advice for St Marys Homeowners

Choosing the right system for a St Marys home comes down to your housing type. Fibro and weatherboard homes go with splits. Brick homes with decent roof cavities are good candidates for ducted. The sizing calculator on our site gives you a quick kW guide for your home.

If you've got an older system that keeps needing repairs, the 12-year rule is a good guide. Systems over 12 years old that need multiple repairs in a year are usually better off replaced. We'll give you a straight answer on the day.
