Covering Rockdale and the St George area.
Bayside units, older brick homes, and a lot of salt-air repair work. We know Rockdale.

Rockdale sits close to Botany Bay, and that changes things. The salt air is hard on outdoor units, so we do a lot of repair and replacement work here that you just don't see as much further inland. There is a wall of newer apartments going up around the station and the highway, plus the older brick homes in the back streets. We cover the lot, from unit splits to ducted replacements and corrosion repairs.

30+ Years

Housing in Rockdale runs from 1950s and 60s brick homes through to a heap of newer apartment blocks near the station and along Princes Highway. The units are split system territory. The older houses suit ducted or splits. The big factor here is the coast. Salt air off the bay corrodes outdoor units faster, so coastal-rated gear and regular servicing matter more in Rockdale than most suburbs.

Rockdale is a bayside suburb, and that is the first thing we think about when someone asks about air conditioning Rockdale. The salt air off Botany Bay is tough on outdoor units, so the gear you pick and how you look after it matters more here than it does inland.

What the salt air does to your system

Salt corrodes outdoor coils and fan motors over time. We see it constantly around Rockdale, units rusting out years before they should. For new installs we lean towards coastal-rated or coil-coated units, and we position the outdoor unit to shelter it from the worst of the sea breeze. For the apartments near the station, a single 5kW split does a living area for $2,500 to $3,000 fitted. For the older brick homes, a 12.5kW ducted system runs around $8,000 to $11,000. Because of the coast, air conditioning repairs Rockdale locals call in are a big part of our week, along with split system installation Rockdale jobs in the new units. A yearly service to wash the salt off and check for corrosion saves a lot of grief down the track. Our pricing guide shows what the common jobs cost.
We cover all of Rockdale and the suburbs around it. Brighton-le-Sands, Ramsgate, Kogarah, and Bexley are all a short run for us. Give us a bell and we'll sort you out.

Air Conditioning Rockdale - Common Questions

FAQs

It does. The salt air off Botany Bay corrodes outdoor unit coils and fan motors faster than it does further inland. Around Rockdale we recommend a coastal-rated or coil-coated unit and a service once a year to wash the salt off and check for corrosion early. Done right, it adds years to the system. Give us a call on (02) 9820 4500.

A single split for an apartment runs between $1,800 for a 2.5kW bedroom unit and $3,000 for a 5kW that does an open living area, fitted. Most blocks around Rockdale need strata approval for where the outdoor unit goes, so check the by-laws first. We position the outdoor unit to shelter it from the worst of the sea breeze where we can.

Depends how far gone it is. Surface corrosion on the casing is usually fine and we can clean and treat it. If the coil fins are eaten away or the fan motor has seized from rust, we can often replace those parts rather than the whole system. We will take a proper look and tell you straight whether it is worth fixing.
