Builder ducted replacements and new installations are the main job type in Glenwood.

Glenwood is a planned estate suburb from the 1990s and early 2000s. Most homes were built with a builder ducted system as standard, and those systems are now hitting 20-25 years. We handle a lot of Carrier and Actron replacements out here. For newer builds that never had ducted, first-time installs are straightforward given the roof space. Mick Daly runs our Hills and north-west installs.

Builder Ducted Systems in Glenwood - Replacing the 20-Year-Old Actron

Most of our Glenwood work is replacing original builder systems. The homes from 1995 to 2005 came standard with a 10-14kW Carrier or Actron system, and those are now well past their best. Zone motors fail, compressors wear out on R22 systems, and controller boards for old units are no longer available. We replace them with modern Panasonic or Daikin inverter systems that use less power and give you far better zone control. At 20 years on a Carrier or Actron, replacement is usually the smarter call. Parts availability is poor, R22 systems can’t legally be regassed, and if the compressor goes you’re looking at a repair that’s close to replacement cost anyway. We’ll quote both options so you can decide.

A full ducted replacement in a standard Glenwood 4-bedroom home takes one day. Two-person crew. We pull out the old system, install the new indoor and outdoor units, connect to existing ductwork, and commission all zones before we leave.

Air Conditioning Advice for Glenwood Homeowners

If your Glenwood home was built between 1995 and 2005 and still has the original ducted system, it is likely due for replacement. Modern inverter systems run 30-40% more efficiently than the units from that era and give far better zone control. The cost of replacement is usually recovered in lower power bills within a few years.

For rooms not on the ducted circuit - sunrooms, granny flats, home offices - a 2.5kW to 5kW split is the clean solution. See the pricing guide for current costs.
