Covering Schofields and the north-west corridor.
A suburb that doubled in a decade - new installs, package upgrades, and the first wave of warranty-expired repairs.

Schofields went from paddocks to full streets fast, and the air con work has followed in waves. First it was all new installs. Now the earliest estate homes are 8 to 10 years old, the builder systems are coming out of warranty, and the repair calls have started. We've been across the corridor the whole time, so we know both ends of that story.

30+ Years

The stock is 2014-onward estate homes: singles and two-storeys, open plans, compact blocks, plus townhouse rows near the station. The earliest builder-installed systems are now hitting the age where fan motors, sensors and boards start asking questions.

About Us

Air Conditioning in Schofields

After air conditioning in Schofields? Jay's Air has been doing it since 1991. A typical Schofields 4-bedder takes 12.5 to 14kW of zoned ducted at $8,000 to $12,000 installed. A 2.5kW split for a townhouse bedroom is $1,800 to $2,100. Fault-finding is $250 plus GST, fix quoted before we start. 4.8 stars from 280+ reviews.

The suburb has hit an interesting age: the first estate systems are 8 to 10 years old and out of builder warranty. The faults arriving are predictable - fan motors, sensors, capacitors - and all fair-money fixes if you catch them before they take the compressor with them.

The first wave of estate systems is coming of age

If your home was one of the early builds, your system has done nearly a decade of corridor summers. New noises, weaker cooling or longer run times are the early warnings, and a $250 service catches them while they're cheap. Ignore them through one more January and the bill gets bigger.

New builds still get the full treatment - proper sizing for the open plans and dark roofs, zoning that splits sleeping from living, rough-ins at frame stage for owner-builders. Numbers first: the sizing calculator and the pricing guide.

Ducted Air Conditioning in Schofields

The ducted air conditioning Schofields runs on splits two ways: new installs into homes that skipped the builder package, and honest upgrades where that package never matched the floor plan. Mick has run our installs since 2009. Typical jobs land at 12.5 to 14kW zoned, $8,000 to $12,000, fixed quote, lifetime workmanship warranty - and we test undersized systems before recommending anything, because sometimes a rezone beats a replacement.

Why Schofields Calls Jay's

Because we've watched this corridor grow from the first slab pours, and we treat the 9-year-old builder system and the brand-new install with the same straight numbers.

Mick Daly runs the ducted work and has since 2009. Noah Hall handles the splits and townhouse jobs. Ben does the diagnostics, and for air conditioning repairs Schofields gets honest verdicts - what failed, what it costs, whether it's worth it.

Credentials: in business since 1991, 4.8 stars from 280+ reviews, NSW licence 273312C, ARCtick AU13058, $20M public liability. We install Panasonic, Daikin and Actron and repair every brand.

Fan motor on a 9-year-old builder system

Problem

One of the early estate homes, builder-installed ducted squealing on startup and the noise getting worse by the week. Warranty long gone.

Diagnosis

Ben confirmed indoor fan motor bearings on the way out and replaced the motor before it seized. $460 fitted - a fortnight later it would have been a much bigger conversation.

Ducted install in a two-storey that skipped the package

Problem

Family who declined the builder's aircon package to save money during the build, then spent two summers regretting it.

Diagnosis

Mick fitted a 14kW Panasonic ducted with 5 zones, upstairs sleeping zones separate from the open plan. Two days, $10,800 fixed, lifetime workmanship warranty.

Townhouse split near the station

Problem

New townhouse with a main bedroom over the garage - hot floor, hot room, no sleep in summer.

Diagnosis

Noah fitted a 2.5kW Panasonic split with the outdoor unit placed per the complex rules. Half a day, $1,990 fixed, problem gone.

FAQs

Air Conditioning Schofields - Common Questions

FAQs

A typical Schofields 4-bedder runs $8,000 to $12,000 for 12.5 to 14kW zoned. Two-storey homes with open plans sit at the top of that. Fixed quote off plans or a site visit.

Usually yes – at that age it’s fan motors, sensors and capacitors, all $150 to $500 fixes. The compressor should have years left. Catch the noise early and the system sees out its full life.

Constantly. A 2.5kW bedroom split is $1,800 to $2,100 installed, and we work within complex rules on outdoor unit placement. Rooms over garages are the local specialty – they need a touch more capacity.

Air Conditioning Advice for Schofields Homeowners

Out-of-warranty doesn't mean end-of-life. The first-wave estate systems have years left in them with the right repairs - a $460 fan motor now beats an $11,000 replacement brought forward five years.

Keep filters clean over summer - open-plan homes pull a lot of air through one return, and a choked filter out here shows up as weak cooling upstairs first.
