Post-war fibro and brick on good blocks - split country, with honest repairs keeping older gear alive.

Marayong is older Blacktown - post-war fibro and brick homes on generous blocks, plenty of original owners and long-term families, and air con that gets added a room at a time rather than all at once. We've worked it for decades off the Blacktown run. The jobs are honest: splits installed properly, old gear repaired when it makes sense, replaced when it doesn't.

30+ Years

The stock is 1950s and 60s fibro and brick on big blocks, with granny flats and duplexes filling in. Splits are the workhorse - some homes carry three or four of varying ages - and the older units are reaching the years where parts conversations start.

About Us

Air Conditioning in Marayong

After air conditioning in Marayong? Jay's Air has been doing it since 1991. A 2.5kW split for a bedroom runs $1,800 to $2,100 installed, a 5kW living room unit $2,500 to $3,000, and whole-house ducted lands at $7,000 to $11,000 where the roofline suits. Fault-finding is $250 plus GST, fix quoted before we start. 4.8 stars from 280+ reviews.

With splits of mixed ages doing the work here, the honest rule matters: under $600 on a unit under 15 years, repair it. The 20-year-old one rattling in the back bedroom? Put the repair money toward its replacement instead.

Mixed-age splits need triage, not blanket answers

A typical Marayong home runs a newish living room split and a couple of older bedroom units. When one fades, the answer depends on which one: the five-year-old gets repaired without question, the fifteen-year-old gets the honest maths. We test before we talk, so you're deciding with real numbers - not replacing gear with years left or pouring money into gear without any.

Granny flat or duplex going in? Dedicated splits beat extending anything. Numbers first with the sizing calculator and the pricing guide.

Air Conditioning Repairs in Marayong

The air conditioning repairs Marayong rings about are the staples of hard-working splits: capacitors on hot days ($150 to $180), slow gas leaks showing as fading cooling ($200 to $350 once repaired), blocked drains dripping inside ($120 to $150), and fan motors squealing their notice ($300 to $500). Most done same visit, quoted first, 12 months on parts. Ben does the diagnostics.

Why Marayong Calls Jay's

Because we fix what's worth fixing and say plainly when it isn't. In a suburb where most homes run several units of different ages, that triage honesty is the whole service.

Mick Daly runs the ducted installs where rooflines suit. Noah Hall does the splits, and split system installation Marayong bedrooms and granny flats order is his regular work here. Ben handles quotes and diagnostics himself.

Three splits triaged in one visit

Problem

Post-war brick home with three splits of different ages, all underperforming, owner expecting to be told to replace the lot.

Diagnosis

Ben tested all three: the newest needed a coil clean ($250), the middle one a capacitor ($165), and the 18-year-old got an honest "spend nothing more on this one". Two fixed, one earmarked, $415 total instead of three replacements.

Granny flat split behind a fibro home

Problem

New flat at the back of a big Marayong block, no cooling, in-laws arriving before Christmas.

Diagnosis

Noah fitted a 2.5kW Panasonic with the drain plumbed properly and the outdoor unit on the shaded side. Half a day, $1,950 fixed.

Replacement split mounted right on fibro

Problem

Old living room split dead, previous installer's bracket pulling out of the fibro sheeting - a wall repair waiting to happen.

Diagnosis

Noah fitted a 5kW Panasonic with the bracket blocked into the studs this time, old holes sealed properly. $2,850 fixed including the remount work.

A 2.5kW bedroom split is $1,800 to $2,100 installed, a 5kW living room unit $2,500 to $3,000 – mounted properly into the studs on fibro homes, with old holes sealed when we replace existing units.

Air Conditioning Advice for Marayong Homeowners

On fibro, the bracket must hit the studs - sheeting-only mounts pull out and take wall with them. If your existing split wobbles, get it remounted before it becomes a repair bill with a plasterer attached.

Building a flat out back? Rough the split's pipe run in during the build and save the retrofit money.
