30+ Years

Housing in Hurstville runs from 1950s and 60s full brick homes on standard blocks through to a heap of newer apartment blocks near the town centre. The older houses suit ducted or a couple of splits. The units are nearly always split system territory, with strata rules to work around. Blocks closer to the station are tight, so outdoor unit placement takes a bit of thought.
About Us

Air Conditioning in Hurstville

After air conditioning in Hurstville? Jay's Air, going since 1991. A split for one of the station-area apartments is around $2,500, and ducted for a full-brick home runs $9,500 to $11,500. Units mean strata, and we sort that side before we quote. 4.8 stars from 280+ reviews.

Hurstville is split right down the middle when it comes to air conditioning. Half the suburb is older full brick houses up the quiet streets. The other half is units stacked around the station and Forest Road. So when someone asks about air conditioning Hurstville, the answer depends a fair bit on which type of place they are in.

Units versus the old brick homes

If you are in a unit, you are nearly always looking at a split system. A 2.5kW split runs around $1,800 to $2,100 fitted and handles a bedroom or small living area. A bigger open living space wants a 5kW unit, closer to $2,500 to $3,000. Most blocks have strata rules about where the outdoor unit can go, so we sort that before we start. For the older brick homes up the back, you can go ducted if the roof space allows, or run a couple of splits room by room. A typical 3-bedroom Hurstville home suits a 10kW ducted system, somewhere around $7,000 to $10,000. Not sure what size you need? Have a look at our sizing calculator.

Plenty of the systems we see around Hurstville are over ten years old and starting to struggle. That is why split system installation Hurstville jobs and straight repairs make up most of our week here. If a unit is still under ten years and the fault is small, a repair makes sense. Past that, a swap is usually the smarter spend. Our pricing guide lays out what things cost.
We cover all of Hurstville and the suburbs around it. Penshurst, Mortdale, Kogarah, and Bexley are all a short run for us. Give us a bell and we'll get you sorted.

Yeah, we do a lot of unit work around Hurstville. Most blocks need strata approval for where the outdoor unit sits, so check your by-laws first. Once that’s sorted, a back-to-back split install is usually a half-day job. We work with the access and bracket spots your strata allows.

Rough rule. If the unit is under ten years old and the fault is small, like a capacitor or a gas top-up, a repair is the cheaper call. Once they are past ten years and parts get hard to find, you are better off replacing. We tell you straight which way to go when we look at it. No pushing you into a new system you don’t need.

Air Conditioning Advice for Hurstville Homeowners

Bought a place in Hurstville with an old air con system? Get it serviced before summer rather than waiting for it to die in a heatwave. A $250 Gold service often catches a small fault before it turns into a big bill. For unit owners, check your strata by-laws on outdoor unit placement before you book anything in. It saves a lot of mucking around later. We match the system to your space and sort the install around the rules.
