Big ducted systems for the new homes on large blocks, plus splits for the older places.

Austral has changed a lot. What was acreage and market gardens is filling up with big new homes on decent blocks, and we are out here putting ducted into a lot of them. The houses are bigger than the new estates closer in, so the systems need to be bigger too. We still do the older fibro homes and farmhouses that are hanging on, usually with splits.

30+ Years

Austral is a mix of old and brand new. Large new two-storey homes on 300 to 600 square metre blocks through the new releases, plus older fibro houses and the odd farmhouse on bigger acreage. The new homes are built for ducted. The older places often start with a split or two.
About Us

Air Conditioning in Austral

Need air conditioning in Austral? Jay's Air, since 1991. Big homes on big blocks often need 16kW or twin systems, so ducted runs $10,000 to $14,000, while older fibro homes take splits around $2,500. We size it for the actual house, not a guess. 4.8 stars from 280+ reviews.

Austral gets the full western Sydney heat with not much around to break it up. The new homes are big, and a big home needs a system with enough grunt to actually cool it. Air conditioning Austral homeowners get right is usually a properly sized ducted system, not something undersized that runs flat out and never wins.

These homes are larger than the ones in the estates closer to the city. A big single-storey on a decent block often needs 16kW or more, and a large two-storey can need a system at the top of the range or even two units to do it properly. Guessing the size on a home this big is how you end up disappointed. Our sizing calculator gives you a starting figure.

Big new homes on large blocks

The new Austral homes are built ducted-ready, which makes the install clean. We zone it room by room on the bigger floor plans so you are only cooling where you are. We fit Panasonic, Daikin or Actron. A large zoned ducted system out here lands around $9,500 to $12,500, more if the footprint needs two units.

For the older fibro homes and farmhouses, splits make more sense. They are quick, cheaper, and cool the rooms you actually use. We can do one in the living area and one in each bedroom that needs it. Pricing is on our pricing page.

We cover all of Austral and the new releases around it. We are often on jobs in nearby Leppington, Edmondson Park and Hoxton Park. Give us a bell.

Ducted Air Conditioning in Austral

Ducted air conditioning Austral homes need because they are big and they cop the heat. One zoned system cools the whole house and lets you shut off the rooms you are not using, which matters when the floor plan is large. We size it properly to the home, sometimes with two units on the really big footprints, and install Panasonic, Daikin or Actron. Mick runs our ducted jobs and has done since 2009.

Twin ducted system in a big single-storey on a 600sqm block

Problem

Large new home was too big for one unit to cool. One end stayed warm no matter what the thermostat said.

Diagnosis

Fitted two Daikin ducted units, one each end of the house, zoned room by room. Whole place even now. $14,800 for the pair supplied and installed.

Splits in an older fibro home

Problem

Owner of an older fibro place with no roof space for ducting wanted the lounge and bedrooms cooled.

Diagnosis

Put a 7.1kW Panasonic in the open living area and a 2.5kW split in two bedrooms. Cheap, quick, and made the place liveable in summer. $5,200 for the lot.

No-cool call on a two year old ducted system in Austral

Problem

Two year old ducted system stopped cooling on the first hot day. Owner panicked thinking the new system had failed.

Diagnosis

Was a tripped safety from a blocked condensate drain, not a fault with the unit. Cleared the drain, reset it, tested it cold. Back running same day. Call-out plus $180.

FAQs

Air Conditioning Austral - Common Questions

FAQs

Depends on the size of the place. A large single-storey often needs 16kW or more, around $9,500 to $12,500. Really big homes sometimes need two units, which can push it to $14,000 plus. We size it to your home and quote a fixed price first.

Not always. On a big footprint, one unit can leave one end warm no matter the setting. Sometimes the right answer is two units, each zoned to its half of the house. We work out what your place actually needs rather than undersize it.

Splits are the answer. They do not need ductwork, just a spot on the wall and the outdoor unit outside. One in the living area and one in each bedroom you use does the job and costs a lot less than ducting.
