Covering Kings Langley and the Blacktown-Hills border.
A tidy 70s-80s family suburb where the original ducted systems are coming up for their second act.

Kings Langley is one of those suburbs that got built right - solid brick homes on proper blocks, laid out in the 70s and 80s and kept tidy since. We've worked it for years off the back of our Blacktown and Hills runs. The systems here are honest gear that has worked hard, and a lot of the 2000s ducted units are now reaching the swap-or-repair years.

30+ Years

Mostly 1970s and 80s brick veneer on generous blocks, with good rooflines that take ducted easily. Plenty of homes run ducted from the 2000s, the rest mix splits added over the years. Family households that use their cooling hard from November through March.

About Us

Air Conditioning in Kings Langley

After air conditioning in Kings Langley? Jay's Air has been doing it since 1991. A typical 3-4 bedroom Kings Langley brick home takes a 10 to 12.5kW ducted system at $7,000 to $11,000 installed. A 2.5kW bedroom split is $1,800 to $2,100, a 5kW living room unit $2,500 to $3,000. Fault-finding is $250 plus GST with the fix quoted before we start. 4.8 stars from 280+ reviews.

Repair or replace the old ducted? The honest line: repairs over $600 on a system past 15 years are money better put toward a new inverter - especially old R22 units, where the gas alone is $265 a kilo. Under that, fix it and keep going.

Good rooflines make replacements easy here

Kings Langley's rooflines are generous and the duct runs from the 2000s installs mostly reuse fine, which keeps a replacement quicker and cheaper than a first install. Most homes land on 10 to 12.5kW with 4 zones - bedrooms separate from living areas so the system only works where you are.

Size it properly before anyone quotes: the sizing calculator takes two minutes, and the pricing guide has the real installed numbers. West-facing living rooms here push borderline homes up a size.

Kings Langley sits on our Blacktown-Hills run with Seven Hills, Blacktown and Baulkham Hills, so a van is never far.

Ducted replacement in an 80s brick veneer

Problem

4-bedroom brick veneer with a 2004 R22 ducted system - compressor noisy, bills climbing, and a $700 repair quote from elsewhere that made no sense on 20-year-old gear.

Diagnosis

Mick fitted a 12.5kW Actron inverter with 4 zones, reusing the sound duct runs. Two days, $9,600 fixed, lifetime workmanship warranty, and the power bill dropped the first quarter.

Split for a west-facing rumpus room

Problem

Rumpus room extension copping the full western sun, unusable from 3pm in summer and the ducted system's zones already at their limit.

Diagnosis

Noah fitted a 5kW Panasonic split sized for the western glass. Done in a morning, $2,800 fixed, and the room works year-round now.

Ducted humming but not starting at 40 degrees

Problem

Actron ducted dead on a 40 degree afternoon, outdoor unit humming, house full of grandkids on school holidays.

Diagnosis

Ben tested and swapped the failed run capacitor, checked fan and compressor currents while there. $170 and cold air back the same afternoon.

Air Conditioning Advice for Kings Langley Homeowners

Wash the filters every couple of months over summer - half the weak-cooling calls here are airflow, and that one's free. And keep the outdoor unit clear of garden creep; a choked condenser mimics every expensive fault in the book.

Adding a room or extension? A dedicated split usually beats stretching the existing ducted zones - cheaper to run and no airflow stolen from the rest of the house.
