Northern Beaches

The Northern Beaches runs from beachfront apartments and houses through Manly, Dee Why, Freshwater and Collaroy in heavy salt air, to big family homes and bushland blocks through Frenchs Forest, Belrose, Forestville and the Avalon end. Coastal-rated outdoor gear is a must near the water, big zoned systems suit the peninsula homes, and ducted works well where there's roof space.

Ducted and the Salt Air on the Beaches

The salt air is the big one out here. A standard outdoor unit on a beachfront home at Manly, Dee Why or Collaroy will corrode and die early, so we fit corrosion-resistant, coastal-rated gear and site it out of the worst of the spray. Up through Frenchs Forest, Belrose and Forestville it's big family homes on bushland blocks that take ducted well, and a modern zoned system cools them evenly. For beach apartments, a split or multi-head is usually the better fit, and we do those too.

We run Panasonic, Daikin and Actron and service every brand. Mick handles the bigger jobs since 2009.

Check our sizing calculator and pricing guide. We cover the whole area including Manly and the peninsula. For repairs see our ducted repairs page.

Ducted for the Beaches' Peninsula Homes

Where ducted works on the Northern Beaches, it's the big family homes through Frenchs Forest, Belrose, Forestville and the peninsula that have the roof space. We install and replace ducted in these, zoned to the rooms, and on the coastal blocks we fit gear that stands up to the salt. For beach apartments and smaller homes, splits and multi-heads suit better. Ducted air conditioning on the Northern Beaches is about the right system for the home and the right gear for the coast.

Ducted Advice for Northern Beaches Residents

A yearly clean matters more on the coast. Salt and grime choke an outdoor unit faster here, so keeping it clear keeps it efficient and lasting.

For a beach apartment, ducted often isn't practical, a split or multi-head is the better fit. We'll tell you straight which suits your place.
