Kellyville's late-90s and 2000s homes are hitting ducted replacement age now.

Kellyville went up fast through the late 90s and 2000s, and nearly every home got a builder ducted system at the time. Those are now fifteen to twenty-five years old, which is exactly when they start dropping compressors and boards. Replacing that builder-grade system with a modern inverter is the bulk of our Kellyville work. We've done the Hills since 1991 with our own crew.

Kellyville

Kellyville is dominated by 1995-2010 brick-veneer family homes, a lot of them four and five bedroom two-storeys on standard estate blocks. They were nearly all fitted with builder-grade ducted, and that first generation of Carrier, Brivis and Actron systems is now well into replacement territory.

Replacing the Builder Ducted System in a Kellyville Home

Nearly every Kellyville home got a builder-grade ducted system when it was built, and that first generation is now fifteen to twenty-five years old. Builder systems were rarely the best gear to start with, so they tend to give up around now, dropping compressors, fan motors and boards. The good news is the ductwork is usually fine, so a replacement is mostly a new indoor and outdoor unit and a controller, and a modern inverter cools far better for less.

We run Panasonic, Daikin and Actron, and Mick runs the Hills installs, on the tools since 2009.

Check our sizing calculator and pricing guide. We also cover Castle Hill, Baulkham Hills and Glenhaven, and for repairs see our ducted repairs page. Our main Kellyville page covers all our local services.

Replacing Builder-Grade Ducted in Kellyville

Replacing the original builder system is the heart of our Kellyville work. The ducted that came with these homes in the late 90s and 2000s was built to a price, and fifteen to twenty-five years on it's tired. A modern inverter is quieter, cools better and costs far less to run, and since the ducting usually stays, a ducted air conditioning replacement in Kellyville is mostly new units and a controller. Often a one-day job.

FAQs

Ducted Air Conditioning Kellyville - Common Questions

FAQs

A standard four-bedroom home runs about $9,500 to $12,000 for a fully installed zoned system, and a big five-bedroom two-storey 16kW job lands $12,000 to $14,000. Most of our work here is replacing builder systems, quoted fixed off your floor plan.

If it’s fifteen years or more and starting to drop parts, yes. Builder systems were built to a price, and a modern inverter cools better and runs far cheaper. The ductwork usually stays, so it’s cheaper than a full re-do. We’ll give you the honest call.

Most replacements that reuse the existing ducting are done in a single day. We tell you upfront when we quote, and we leave the place clean.

Ducted Advice for Kellyville Residents

A replacement is usually mostly the units and controller because the ducting stays, so don't assume you need the whole lot redone. We'll tell you what's worth keeping.

Size to the floor plan, not bigger. For most Kellyville homes the right size is 12kW to 16kW. An oversized system short-cycles and wears out early.
