Split system installs and repairs in terraces and cottages is most of our Lilyfield work.

Lilyfield is one of those Inner West suburbs where ducted is rarely practical. The Victorian terraces and inter-war cottages have low-pitch roofs with minimal ceiling space - not enough room for ductwork. So it's splits and multi-head units for most homes, and we do a lot of repair work on older systems. It's a mix of owner-occupiers on the quieter streets and rental properties closer to the main roads.

Air Conditioning in Lilyfield

After air conditioning in Lilyfield? Jay's Air has been working in the Inner West since 1991. For a typical terrace or cottage out here, you're looking at around $2,500 to $2,800 for a 5kW split system. Ducted is not practical for most Lilyfield homes - the low-pitch roofs don't have the ceiling depth for ductwork. A well-placed split or multi-head unit is the right solution. 4.8 stars from 280+ reviews.

For a larger home needing two or three rooms covered, a multi-head unit runs $4,500 to $7,000 depending on the number of indoor heads. Split System Installation in Lilyfield Terraces and Cottages

The challenge with Lilyfield homes is the roof. Victorian and Edwardian terraces have shallow hip or gable roofs with tiles close to the ceiling - there is no space for ductwork, and attempting it causes more problems than it solves. A split system mounted on the wall of the main living area is the clean solution. For homes with a study, bedroom, or back room that also needs cooling, a multi-head unit with two or three indoor heads covers everything from one outdoor unit. Use the sizing calculator to see what capacity your space needs.

Air Conditioning Advice for Lilyfield Homeowners

Choosing the right split for a terrace or cottage in Lilyfield comes down to room size and usage. A 2.5kW is fine for a bedroom up to about 20sqm. A 5kW covers a standard terrace lounge and dining open-plan. If you run them open-plan with a kitchen, go 5kW or even 7.1kW. Don't undersize - a unit that's too small will run flat out all day and still not keep up.

For strata units, check your by-laws on outdoor unit placement before you commit. We can advise on placement options that meet strata requirements. See the pricing guide for costs.
