Post-war brick family homes with hard-working systems - replacements and repairs are most of our week here.

Kingsgrove is core territory for us - we've been working the St George corridor since the 90s and these streets are on the regular run. The homes are solid post-war brick on decent blocks, the families are big, and the air con works hard from November to March. When something dies here it usually dies on a hot Saturday, and we plan our summer rosters around exactly that.

30+ Years

Mostly 1950s and 60s brick veneer and double brick family homes, a band of newer duplexes, and small unit blocks toward the station. Roof spaces are generally good, which makes ducted straightforward, and a lot of homes carry 2000s systems now due for the swap.

About Us

Air Conditioning in Kingsgrove

After air conditioning in Kingsgrove? Jay's Air has been doing it since 1991. A typical 3-4 bedroom Kingsgrove brick home takes a 10 to 12.5kW ducted system at $7,000 to $11,000. A 2.5kW bedroom split is $1,800 to $2,100, a 5kW living room unit $2,500 to $3,000. Fault-finding is $250 plus GST, fix quoted before we start. 4.8 stars from 280+ reviews.

Repair or replace the old one? Over $600 of repairs on a 15-plus-year system, put it toward a new one. Under that, fix it. We quote both ways on the spot so you decide with real numbers, not sales talk.

The 2000s ducted swap is the big job here

Like most of St George, Kingsgrove fitted out heavily in the 2000s and those systems are hitting the end together. The good news is the second install is the easy one - sound duct runs get reused, the roof access is known, and a modern inverter pulls less power than whatever is up there now. Most homes land on 10 to 12.5kW.

Jay's Air 2026 air conditioning repair price guide - minor repairs from $70, major repairs up to $3,500, ducted replacement $6,500-$14,000

The duplexes and units run splits, sized for the western sun where it bites. Run your place through the sizing calculator and check the pricing guide before anyone quotes you.

Kingsgrove sits mid-run for us alongside Bexley, Beverly Hills and Narwee, so a van is rarely far away.

Air Conditioning Repairs in Kingsgrove

The air conditioning repairs Kingsgrove rings us about are the classics of ageing gear: capacitors dying on 38 degree days, fan motors squealing their warning, blocked drains leaking down bedroom walls, and 2000s systems slowly losing gas. Common fixes run $120 to $500 and most are done the same visit. Quote first, 12 month warranty on parts, plus our lifetime workmanship guarantee, Ben on the diagnostics.

Why Kingsgrove Calls Jay's

Because we've been the St George corridor's air con crew for thirty years and the pricing has never grown legs mid-job. Fixed quote, tidy work, straight answers.

Mick Daly runs the ducted replacements and has since 2009. Noah Hall does the splits, and split system installation Kingsgrove duplexes and units need is steady work for him. Ben handles diagnostics himself.

Ducted replacement in a 60s double brick

Problem

1960s double brick with a 2006 Daikin ducted - two repair bills in two summers and the owners done with throwing money at it.

Diagnosis

Mick fitted a 12.5kW Actron inverter with 4 zones, reusing the duct runs after a proper inspection. Two days, $9,600 fixed, lifetime workmanship warranty.

Split for a west-facing duplex living room

Problem

Newer duplex with a west-facing open plan that cooked from 3pm. The builder-installed bedroom split next door just highlighted what the living room was missing.

Diagnosis

Noah fitted a 7.1kW Panasonic sized for the glass and the western load. In and out in a day, $3,300 fixed, and the room finally holds 23 at dinner time.

Drain blocked, water down the hallway wall

Problem

Split in a brick veneer dripping water inside, owners had it off for a week fearing a gas leak and a big bill.

Diagnosis

Ben cleared the blocked condensate drain, flushed the line, cleaned the tray and checked the gas was untouched. $140, running the same morning, no drama.

Air Conditioning Advice for Kingsgrove Homeowners

Wash your filters every couple of months over summer. Half the weak-cooling calls we get here are filters, and it's a free fix you can do yourself in ten minutes.

And when you do replace the old ducted, get the duct runs inspected as part of the quote. Reusing sound ducts saves real money - but bolting a new unit to cooked 20-year-old flex duct wastes the upgrade.
