Covering Ashfield and the Inner West.
Splits and repairs are our bread and butter round here.

Ashfield's a mix of old and new. Federation homes and California bungalows on the leafy streets, red brick walk-up units near the station, and a fair few newer apartment blocks gone up the last decade. We're across all of it. Most days round Ashfield we're either fixing a system that's packed it in or putting in a new split for someone who's sick of sweating through summer. We know the strata side too, so units aren't a drama.

30+ Years

A lot of Ashfield housing is interwar and older. Solid double brick bungalows and Federation homes with high ceilings, plus three storey red brick unit blocks from the 50s and 60s. Newer builds near the town centre are smaller and tighter. Each one needs a different approach when you're sizing a system.
About Us

Air Conditioning in Ashfield

After air conditioning in Ashfield? Jay's Air, since 1991. A multi-head split for a unit is around $7,400, a single split about $2,400, and ducted for a bungalow with roof space runs $9,500 to $11,500. Strata and heritage we sort before we quote. 4.8 stars from 280+ reviews.

If you live in Ashfield you already know the drill. The old brick homes hold heat all summer and feel like a fridge come winter. Air conditioning Ashfield homes properly means matching the system to the house, not just slapping in the biggest unit going.

Sizing a system for an Ashfield bungalow or unit

For a typical two bedroom unit in one of the older Ashfield blocks, a 2.5kW to 3.5kW split handles the living area nicely. A bigger Federation home with high ceilings usually wants a 7kW system per zone, or a multi-head setup if you want a few rooms off one outdoor unit. Not sure what you need? Have a play with our sizing calculator or give us a bell and we'll talk it through.

Split system installation Ashfield locals ask for is mostly in units and terraces where ducted isn't practical. Multi-head splits are the go when you've got a few rooms and one spot outside for the compressor. We sort the strata paperwork too so you're not chasing your building manager.

We also do plenty of air conditioning repairs Ashfield way, because there's a lot of older gear still running that just needs a regas, a new board or a proper clean. We'll always tell you straight whether it's worth fixing or whether you're throwing good money after bad. See our pricing guide for what things cost.

We cover the whole Inner West from here. If you're in Burwood, Leichhardt or Strathfield we're on your street regularly too. Ashfield sits right in the middle of our Inner West run.

Split System Installation in Ashfield

Most Ashfield jobs are splits. Units, terraces and bungalows where running ducting through the roof isn't worth it. We install Panasonic, Daikin and Actron, and we match the system to your room size and your budget. A single room split starts around $1,800 fitted. A multi-head for a few rooms runs higher depending on how many heads you need. Every install comes with a 12 month workmanship warranty on top of the manufacturer's.

Why Ashfield Calls Jay's

We've been at this since 1991. Same family, same crew, no subbies you've never met turning up at your door.

Noah runs most of our split installs across the Inner West. He's quick, tidy, and he'll leave your place the way he found it. For repairs and diagnostics, Ben's your man. He's been chasing faults round Sydney homes for years and there's not much he hasn't seen.

Our pricing is fixed and up front. You get the number before we start, not a nasty surprise after. A service is $150 for a filter clean and check, $250 for our Gold service, or $350 for the Platinum once-over. Air conditioning repairs Ashfield wide are a call out plus a quote on the fix, so you decide before we touch it.

We're licensed and certified. NSW Contractor Licence 273312C and ARCtick AU13058, so the refrigerant side is done by the book. We're rated 4.8 stars from 280+ reviews, which we're pretty chuffed about.

We're open Monday to Friday 7am to 5pm, and Saturdays by arrangement. Give us a call on (02) 9820 4500 or shoot us a message and we'll get you sorted.

Ducted replacement in a Federation home, Ashfield

Problem

Old ducted system in a big Federation home had finally given up. Bedrooms never got cool and the unit was costing a fortune to run.

Diagnosis

We pulled the old gear and put in a 14kW Panasonic ducted system with four zones, so they can cool bedrooms and living areas separately. Tidied up the roof ductwork while we were at it. Two days work, $11,200, with a 12 month workmanship warranty.

Multi-head split for a unit near the station

Problem

Two bed unit in an older block, no air con, western sun belting into the living room all afternoon.

Diagnosis

Strata wouldn't allow a big outdoor unit on the balcony, so we went with a compact 3 head Daikin multi-split. One head in each bedroom, one in the living area, all off a single outdoor unit. Sorted the strata approval paperwork too. $7,400 fitted.

No cooling on a 6 year old split, Ashfield

Problem

Split in a bungalow was running but blowing warm. Owner reckoned it was cactus and was ready to replace the whole thing.

Diagnosis

Wasn't cactus at all. Low on gas from a small leak on the outdoor coil. We found the leak, repaired it, regassed, and it's been blowing ice cold since. $420 all up, way better than a new system. Parts carry a lifetime workmanship warranty.

Depends on the age and the fault. If it’s under about 8 years old and it’s a gas leak, a board or a fan motor, a repair is usually the smart move. Older than that and we’ll give you the honest call on whether it’s worth fixing. Either way we tell you straight before any work starts.

Air Conditioning Advice for Ashfield Homeowners

Buying for an Ashfield home comes down to the building. Old double brick holds temperature well once you get there, so you don't always need the biggest system going. Newer units near the town centre are tighter and cool quickly.

Whatever you're in, get the sizing sorted first and pick a system you can actually get serviced down the track. We're happy to walk you through it with no pressure.
